] clown able to see if I opened his email or not. Is this a feature on the mass-spam smtp service he uses?
While there are ways to find out if an email one sent has been read or not this is more likely some asshole trying to get you to click a link in my opinion.

If you click the link he will easily be able to see you have opened and clicked the linkn (even if you didnt submit any information on the scampage). If he’s using a mail sender like mailchimp for example then he can tell when you have opened the email…
